JCB – A Class Act

Feb 4, 2011 by

I recently received a bottle of wine at the office of Wine Country This Week Magazine (one of the publications I write for). This hadn’t happened before. Usually, wineries send their wines directly to my home for review. My curiosity was piqued.

Got the package home and opened it. Inside was a gold envelope with my name on it and a bottle of Chardonnay that looked like it belonged on the perfume (or cologne) counter at Macy’s – really nice package with a gold label screened directly onto the bottle. No paper label here, folks. Inside the gold label was a really nice card thanking me for my writing and wishing me a happy 2011. Wow! Happy Wine Wench, me.

It is a bottle of JCB (Jean-Claude Boisset No. 81 Chardonnay, vintage 2009. I just opened it and it is a truly excellent Chardonnay! Aromas of vanilla bean, caramel, white flowers, pear and a hint of citrus continue as flavors in the bright, juicy and slightly creamy mouth. I am usually a card-carrying member of the ABC (anything but Chardonnay club), but I’ll make an exception for this beauty!

Just thought I’d share. Thanks, JCB!
